Edible East Bay congratulates our local Good Food Award winners, chosen in a blind tasting from more than 2000 producers. In addition to making delicious products, these artisans were honored for respecting the environment and local communities.
Orchard Blend #1 was singled out as a winner from the Far West Cider Company, which ferments, ages, and packages its ciders in the Riggers Loft building at the historic Port of Richmond.
Berkeley’s Fra’ Mani Handcrafted Foods, founded by Chef Paul Bertolli, got the nod from the judges for its Salame Gentile.
The Local Butcher Shop, Berkeley’s go-to spot for sustainably raised meat, daily sandos, and meat-skills classes, was recognized for its Pork Liver Mousse.
Miss Bee Haven Honey, based in Brentwood, was honored for its Honey Comb. They sell their products at the Brentwood and Antioch Farmers’ Markets.
Longtime Oakland roaster Mr. Espresso was chosen for its Ethiopia Fair Trade Organic Worka Natural, sourced from members of a farmers’ cooperative.
Tsar Nicoulai Caviar, based in Concord with a Caviar Café at the San Francisco Ferry Plaza Building, received an award for its Estate Smoked Sturgeon.
Berkeley couple Brian Johnson and Julie Gordon of Wooden Spoons took home top honors for their Salmon Rillettes.
