Got Seeds?
Exchange home-grown garden seeds, meet local gardeners, and hear the latest legal news about seed sharing at the Annual Bay Area Seed Exchange presented by BASIL, a project of the Ecology Center. You can also enjoy a potluck supper and live music by Mud Fence at this lively event, which is co-sponsored by Transition Berkeley, Sustainable Economies Law Center, Ashby Community Garden, and California Habitats Indigenous Activists (CHIA). Please bring seeds and a dish to share. RSVP here or just drop in. Free if you bring food and seeds to share or suggested donation of $5–$20. No one turned away for lack of funds.
For some recent history about the laws on seed saving, read our Summer 2015 feature by Jillian Steinberger:
Here’s our list of local seed libraries, which are terrific free resources for gardeners.
