Hats Off to the East Bay’s Good Food Awards Winners!
Six East Bay producers took top honors at the 2018 Good Food Awards competition. Edible East Bay offers heartfelt congratulations! Here’s who won:
Akka’s Handcrafted Foods, located in Fremont and offering traditional chutneys, curry sauces, and Indian pickles, got the nod for its Garlic Relish.
Drake’s Brewing Company in San Leandro was recognized for Cherryland, its heirloom cherry sour beer.
Far West Cider Company, with a waterfront taproom in Richmond, carried home awards for their You’ve Guava Be Kidding Me and Proper Dry ciders.
Fra’ Mani Handcrafted Foods, based in Berkeley, was honored for two of its dry salamis: Salametto Piccante and Soppressata. Read more about Fra’ Mani and its founder Chef Paul Bertolli in our Summer 2006 story.
Tsar Nicoulai Caviar, based in Concord and offering a Signature Caviar Experience at Domaine Carneros Winery in Napa, received awards for its Jordan’s Chef Reserve and Wild Cold Smoked Salmon.
Yumé Boshi, the Oakland business inspired by traditional cooking methods used by Japanese grandmas, received double honors for its Ume Plum Syrup and Ume Plum Jam. Read about founder Ayako Iino and the way she makes a variety of products with ume plums in our Fall 2015 article.
And we want to add one more note of congratulations: Kathryn Tomajan, a Berkeley resident and olive oil producer, whose Fat Gold olive oil company was featured in our Winter Holidays issue, created the award-winning ENZO Organic Basil Crush olive oil for Enzo Olive Oil Company of Madera.
