Ever wondered how olives become olive oil? Come find out on Community Milling Day, when Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company invites the public to bring harvested olives to the mill and watch the process firsthand. When you return the following week, you’ll bring home some freshly milled oil made from combining all the participants’ crops. The milling rate is $0.75 per pound of olives plus a small charge for the container. No minimum quantity is required, but those bringing olives must arrive at the mill between 9am and noon. Harvest your olives the day before the event for better oil. Info: here
Even if you don’t have olives, stop by on October 21, 1–4pm for an Oktoberfest celebration featuring German-inspired food, beer, and wine. Taste Il Fiorello’s olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and gelato, and take a tour to view the milling process at 2 or 4pm. Tickets: $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Info and tickets: here or 707.864.1529.
