Class #1, The Urban Orchard Intensive: Learn about bare root tree selection and planting your urban orchard with fruit trees and fruiting shrubs. Get instruction and practice with grafting apple trees to take home. Cost: Full day $100–$150 sliding scale; individual sessions $40–$80 sliding scale.

Class #2, The Real Dirt: Starting with the gardener’s adage “feed the soil, not the plant,” we’ll discuss the essentials and foolproof basics of organic gardening. Learn about soil types, tilling and amending, composting, sheet mulching, and cover crops. The class also covers seeds and starts, sun and shade, water, weeds, and garden planning. Ideal for beginning gardeners and those wanting to know more about organic perspectives and techniques. Cost: $60–$100 sliding scale. Registration: here
