Emergency Food Production Grants Now Available for Local Restaurants and Food Vendors

Restaurants in San Leandro, Hayward, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, and the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, and Fairview may apply for $15,000 to cover costs associated with preparing meals for distribution to home-bound seniors, medically vulnerable patients, and families experiencing food insecurity and hunger as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Food businesses with capacity to produce 1,000 meals from May to September 2020 are encouraged to apply. Here’s a link to the food vendor application.

These Emergency Food Production grants represent a partnership between the Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs’ Activities League (DSAL), All IN Alameda County (ALL IN), and Supervisor Wilma Chan, and are made possible by a grant from the Stupski Foundation. DSAL and ALL IN will spearhead collection and distribution of the meals at the newly launched Dig Deep Farms Food Hub.
