Welcome to the future in food, where visionary startups are producing alternatives to conventional meat and dairy products using pioneering technologies in fermentation and cultivation. With missions to be kinder to animals, the planet and human health, The Better Meat Co., Perfect Day and UPSIDE Foods are three California companies at the forefront of a new wave of making food that leaves animals (mostly) out of the equation.
On Friday, March 10, 2023, 9–10:30am, you are invited by our local chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier for a virtual panel discussion as San Francisco–based food-trend expert Kara Nielsen moderates an enlightening and engaging discussion with three women leaders, each at a company tapping a unique technological approach to creating nutritious and delicious foods.
- Nicki Briggs, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Perfect Day (animal-free dairy)
- Joanna Bromley, Co-founder and EVP of Finance at The Better Meat Co. (mycoprotein meats)
- Amy Chen, Chief Executive Officer at UPSIDE Foods (cultivated chicken)
Food professionals take note! As these new-to-the-world foods land on restaurant menus, in foodservice outlets, and on retail store shelves, culinary professionals will be in a unique position to educate and inform consumers about these products, playing a role that adds to the positive impact these foods can have on the environment and animal welfare. The event is an opportunity to discuss the opportunities as well as the challenges that lie ahead for these companies and the future of food.
