Plastic-Free July is an ideal time to practice and learn more about ways to minimize your personal (or business) use of plastics and single-use disposables. The Ecology Center is here to help with a variety of free events packed with information and tips for reducing your use of plastics year-round.

On Saturday, July 22, 11am–1pm, you can join a walking tour: Road to Refill shares local options for refilling and avoiding single-use packaging.

Tuesday, July 25 brings a South Berkeley neighborhood cleanup and data collection on brands that have made plastics so pervasive. Info here.

Saturday, July 29, 11am is your chance for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Berkeley Recycling Center. Space for the tour is limited, so register now.

All events are free, but donations are welcome.

After its start in 2011 as an annual event in Western Australia, Plastic-Free July has spread across the globe. In 2017, the City of Berkeley joined these efforts by declaring July a Plastic-Free Month.
