About our cover photographer
Nature was humming and the day was in its full brilliance as photographer Rachel Stanich captured the magic at Cloverfield Organic Farm for our story here.
A few days later, she was in creative storytelling mode at Port Costa’s Bull Valley Roadhouse, working solely with natural light to create several artful renditions of the restaurant’s spooky pre-Prohibition–era ambiance. Her photo on our cover shows Bull Valley Roadhouse chef Anthony Paone as he brings his Fall Succotash (recipe on page 38) out into the alluring gloom of the dining room. At right, we’re tempted to dial up Great Aunt Millie as we sip the bar’s Chapter Six cocktail (recipe on page 40), created by Bull Valley bar program founder (and now owner) Tamir Ben-Shalom.
