About our Cover Photographer, Robin Jolin
The photographs on the cover and Contents page, as well as in two of our feature stories, are by Robin Jolin. For the past 10 years, Robin has been in Oakland, shooting clothing, restaurants, and happy people enjoying amazing food.
Robin fell in love with photography as a child while living on a mountain in Costa Rica. The breathtaking views, along with many other wonderful things that she saw going on around her, made her want to capture not just the images, but the moments.
When she was in third grade, Robin and her family started spending Thanksgivings with her grandparents in San Miguel de Ayende, Mexico. Her grandfather gave her a camera and on many occasions hired a local photographer to spend the day coaching Robin with her photography.
When Robin became a high school student in Roseville, California, she took on the position of photo editor for the award-winning Granite Bay Gazette. In 2004, she graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography.
Robin still loves shooting film and chooses it about half the time over digital. Most of her clients are local boutiques, clothing designers, and chefs. She also shoots weddings. Find her work at robinjolinweddings.com and robinjolin.com
