Gather Stirs Up Cocktails for Change
Known and beloved for its diverse and locally sourced menu, Gather Restaurant debuts Cocktails for Change. In the first round of this program, sales of four enticing drinks are donated to four nonprofits representing a broad range of issues:
The Lorax (top photo: cachaça, lime, and prickly pear spirit served on the rocks). Funds go to the National Forest Foundation’s Tree Planting Program towards the goal of planting 50 million trees by 2023.
The Resistance! (bottom photo: mezcal, citrus, lavender syrup, and a salted rim served on the rocks) supports Inequality Media, producer of the Resistance Report hosted by UC Berkeley Professor Robert Reich.
Camino Real (cilantro infused tequila, lime, agave, golden balsamic, chili oil served up) supports Centro Legal de la Raza, a comprehensive legal services agency protecting and advancing the rights of immigrant, low-income, and Latino communities.
Fault & Fractured (Oloroso sherry, pür spirits amaro, Cocchi Americano, lemon juice, and soda water on crushed ice; low ABV cocktail, refreshing and round). This cocktail supports Food and Water Watch and its campaign to ban fracking.
Cocktails for Change is ongoing, with drinks priced at $13 each. “The program is designed to support changemakers who are working tirelessly to make this world a better place in a way that naturally integrates into the Gather experience while raising awareness,” says bar manager Jacob Kardon.
