First Season Gathering at the MESA Farm

Celebrate the first season of farming and offer gratitude to the land with a day of activities and an ancestral feast at the MESA Farm, a center for urban agroecology in El Sobrante. Come dressed as one of your ancestors, whether in the traditional clothing of your lineage or quite literally as your great Uncle Joe. Bring a dish that you know your loved ones on the other side would enjoy or something that once brewed over a fire in your homeland. Bring offerings and photographs for the communal altar, and stories, seeds, and songs of your people. Bring musical instruments, gardening gloves to tend to the land, and dancing shoes to rejoice. Activities throughout the day include a farm tour, marigold harvesting for the ancestors, earth art activity, children’s craft table, seed saving and exchange, goat visits, tree planting, cover crop sowing, biochar workshop, and more.
