Happy Hour With a Purpose

Spend your September 4 Friday happy hour (5pm) enjoying an East Brother Beer Company Black is Beautiful Imperial Stout as the Richmond-based brewer hosts a community zoom forum on reforming the criminal justice system and how communities can foster forgiveness and support success for people transitioning back into community life.

Dewanda Joseph, community activist and founder of Ya-NEEMA Healing Circle and Supportive Services, moderates as Safe Return Project’s executive director Tamisha Walker discusses her personal experience transitioning from prison. Others on the panel include Michelle Milam from the City of Richmond’s Crime Prevention Unit and various guests who have made the transition.

East Brother Beer Company’s contribution to the Black is Beautiful Imperial Stout initiative created by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, Texas offers notes of chocolate, coffee, and deeply roasted barley with classic English hops. Making it taste even better is the knowledge that all proceeds from this beer’s sales support the Safe Return Project. Black is Beautiful  is a collaborative effort of brewers nationwide to bring awareness to the injustices faced by people of color. Watch the community forum at this link (use passcode 0904) or find it streaming live at East Brother’s Facebook page.
