Looking for a satisfying weekend getaway with a regional food and wine feast? On September 24, 2022, Farm Discovery at Live Earth hosts “Mesa,” the annual benefit dinner at Live Earth Farm supporting Farm Discovery’s empowering programs for kids and families’ health in the Monterey Bay area foodshed.

This magical evening includes craft cocktails, wine, beer, live music, and silent and live auctions including items from resorts, hotels, artisans, and businesses from Big Sur to Shelter Cove. The afternoon will begin with appetizers, craft cocktails, beer, wine, live music, and a silent auction followed by a hearty, plant-forward multi-course wine-pairing dinner created by Chef Jessica Yarr and Chef Diego Felix. Each unique course will feature fresh, local organic produce and other artisan ingredients.

After the wine pairing dinner, the event will culminate with a short live auction followed by dessert overlooking the Pajaro Valley. The auction will feature relaxing getaways and adventures from Shelter Cove to Tahoe, San Francisco, and Big Sur! Have you been meaning to explore boat charters in the Monterey Bay, soak in the history and Foodie Delights of Carmel, venture up the coast for a barn-dance at Pie Ranch, hit up the mountain fun in Tahoe? The auction offers these delightful trips, and you will be supporting Farm Discovery at Live Earth’s on-farm education programs, fresh organic produce distribution to meal programs and food pantries like Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes and field trips for local youth.

More about Farm Discovery

In 2021, Farm Discovery stepped up in partnership with the community to deliver 70,000 pounds of gleaned produce from Live Earth Farm to farmworker families, seniors, veterans, foster youth, and neighbors experiencing food insecurity and provided on-farm learning support for students and families struggling with distance learning. In 2022 they are getting back to on-farm, hands-on experiences, empowering over 3,000 youth to harvest and taste farm-fresh foods, while learning organic farming skills, nutrition, ecology, and grade-level science concepts.

Through Farm Discovery’s programs, local youth are engaged and inspired to be informed stewards of their own health, their community, and their environment. Farm Discovery at Live Earth aims to raise $80,000 through “Mesa” the September 24th fall fundraising event, to support farm visits, transportation costs, and garden & kitchen supplies for the over 3000 students who will visit Live Earth Farm during the 2022-2023 year.

Farm Discovery at Live Earth is a farm-based education not-for-profit organization in Watsonville, California. We empower youth and families to build and sustain healthy food, farming, social and natural systems. By developing environmental literacy, teaching farming skills, and transforming food habits that support personal, community, and environmental health we encourage students to build a relationship with food that is healthy for people, the environment, and the economy. A special emphasis is placed on reaching underserved people in the Pajaro Valley to bolster individual, community, and environmental health.
