Now in its 38th year, the Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition celebrates the city’s art and artists with a dazzling array of works in all media. The public is invited to this annual juried art show, featuring paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, drawings, ceramics, textiles, and furniture, along with performance art and poetry. The event showcases the works of 126 artists who live or work in Emeryville.

The East Bay enclave of Emeryville is well known for its active and diverse arts community and this exhibition serves as the city’s annual celebration of collective creativity. Each year a panel of Bay Area art professionals selects the artwork to be displayed, creating a carefully curated and varied group show. A gala public reception with the artists will be held on Friday, October 4 from 6 pm to 9 pm. A no-host bar will raise funds for the Emeryville Youth Art Program.

“Our city’s artistic roots run deep as established artists who have lived here for years, decades, look forward to their part each fall in the annual celebration,” said exhibition coordinator Sharon Wilchar. “Many of these artists have experienced national and even international success yet still come ‘home’ to contribute to the exhibition.”

The Celebration also includes an October 6 poetry workshop, October 20 dance performance, and October 27 poetry reading.

The Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition is sponsored by Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc. Independent curator and exhibition designer Kathleen Hanna is curator and juror. The other 2024 jurors are Vicky Kumpfer, public art consultant, and Kristen Zaremba, public art coordinator, Cultural Affairs Division, City of Oakland. The exhibition space at Public Market Emeryville is generously donated by Oxford Properties Group.
