ABOUT OUR COVER ARTIST
Cristian Guerrero has been creating art for 20 years. Originally from Chile, he came to the Bay Area 35 years ago, and has lived most of that time in Oakland. He has a library job at UC Berkeley and enjoys spending his off hours with his family (including two beautiful kitties), eating oysters, drinking microbrewery beer, reading, and listening to music.
After their daughter, Olivia, was born, Cristian and his wife, Suzanne, moved to Walnut Creek so Olivia could be near her grandparents. The proximity to his 86-year-old mother, Gaby, resulted in a fun and creative art collaboration for Cris when Gaby decided to try combining her son’s drawings and colors with her embroidery skills. The pieces shown on this page are some of the results.
