ABOUT OUR COVER ARTIST
The photographs on our cover and this page are by Stacy Ventura, a Bay Area native now living in Marin County. She received her first camera, a 35mm SLR, in high school, and right away began using it to photograph portraits of her family and friends, as well as her feet in fun places. She continued her photography education at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and then returned to the Bay Area, where she found many amazing and inspiring photographers as mentors.
As Stacy started her own photography business, she decided to focus on food, restaurants, and portraits. Her work has been featured in San Francisco Magazine, Food Arts, 7×7, Food & Wine, Market Watch, Wines & Vines, and several Edible Communities publications.
Stacy and her husband Brian (a chef at A-16 in San Francisco) have turned their small backyard garden into a micro-farm. Nicknamed Willow Street Farms, it’s become a venue for farm-to-table dinners, an annual heirloom tomato plant sale, and a small farm stand. The farm is also home to five chickens, a farm dog named Bianca, and two kitties. Stacy loves listening to bluegrass music and is learning to play the banjo.
