A Farmer’s Tale

Real Food Real Stories unites people around food and storytelling. The group hosts intimate, friendly events where farmers, chefs, and other food changemakers talk about their lives while guests enjoy the food and conversation. At an upcoming gathering, Efren Avalos, owner and founder of Avalos Organic Farm, shares his personal story as a fifth-generation farmer. Avalos, who came to the United States at age 17, discusses owning and running his farm in Hollister and facing the current political realities. Join in for the conversation with Avalos and enjoy a plant-based meal at Core Kitchen made with fresh food grown at Avalos Farm. For more about Core Kitchen, the world’s first produce-only restaurant, read our Spring 2017 article. Cost: $15–40 sliding scale. Info and tickets: here
