Sri Lankan Flavors from Hoppers: The Cookbook at Market Hall, Feb 25
Hoppers: The Cookbook: Recipes, Memories and Inspiration from Sri Lankan Homes, Streets and Beyond is the debut cookbook of Karan Gokani, chef and co-owner of London’s extremely popular Sri Lankan restaurant, Hoppers. This new book showcases signature Sri Lankan recipes from the restaurant along with Gokani’s personal story and the stories of the Sri Lankan people, places and dishes that inspired the chef to leave his law career to open Hoppers. Inside the book, you’ll learn about essential Sri Lankan flavors and ingredients, and get the recipes for classic and new dishes that Gokani developed, including crab kari, crunchy deep-fried mutton rolls, kalupol chicken, and kothu roti.
Karan Gokani will be signing copies of Hoppers: The Cookbook at Rockridge Market Hall, 5655 College Avenue in Oakland on Saturday, February 25, 2–3:30pm.
During the event, the folks from Oakland-based Diaspora Co. will be on hand to share samples of their single-origin spices from India and Sri Lanka. You’ll also get to sample Sri Lankan milk tea from Bay Area producer Kola Goodies.
