A Slice of the Market: September 19 in Berkeley
Do you love fresh local food? The Berkeley Farmers’ Market has a special slice of local for you on September 19 when they guide you on a tour of the North Berkeley Farmers’ Market, where you’ll get to meet the passionate farmers and vendors and discover the sustainable practices that bring fresh, locally grown food to our community. After the tour, you’ll unwind at Vintage Berkeley with a glass of locally sourced wine, beer, or other beverage plus cheese pairings from the Cheese Board, a cherished Berkeley institution. You’ll also savor freshly made artisan pizzas and side dishes crafted by two of our community’s talented food artisans.
Meet the Pizza Chefs Behind the Perfect Slice
A Berkeley native with nearly 20 years of pizza-making experience, Daniel McChesney-Young has done it all—from slice shops to competing in the Neapolitan Pizza Olympics in Italy. Now the Farmers’ Market Program Manager for the Ecology Center, Daniel serves up a simple food philosophy: Let the ingredients speak for themselves. Assisting Daniel in crafting the delectable pizza on your plate will be Chef Peter of The Table Catering. With over two decades of experience in Mediterranean-California cuisine, Peter has worked at top establishments like Chez Panisse and Garibaldi’s. His commitment to sustainability and using high-quality ingredients ensures that every dish is both delicious and environmentally friendly.
Your $50 ticket includes as many slices of that handcrafted farm-fresh pizza as you care to eat, delectable accompaniments, sustainable wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and dessert. Most importantly, your support will benefit the Ecology Center’s essential programs. As a thank you, you’ll receive a one-year membership to the Ecology Center, granting access to exclusive benefits and events throughout the year.
This crucial fundraiser supports the Ecology Center’s efforts to promote sustainability and build a healthy, equitable future for all. Get your tickets today and join this memorable evening celebrating the abundance of our local farms with great food and community!
