Fight Back by Fighting Hunger!
Support your neighbors and community by partnering with your local food bank and pantries. Each week throughout the holiday season, we’ll highlight a fun new way to lend your support starting with an offer from Emeryville’s Prizefighter Bar.
Join in to prevent hunger and ease food insecurity. This week, our highlighted event is an offering from Emeryville’s Prizefighter Bar, which is partnering with the West Oakland Food Pantry along with Where the Buffalo Roam and Galdes Fine Lighting & Grip. Through November 16, Prizefighter Bar will donate $2 from every St George Gin Martini or Elderflower Buck you order to the West Oakland Food Pantry’s Thanksgiving turkey drive. On the final night, Saturday November 16, come to a fundraising party at the bar, with a special raffle 7–9pm.
The Alameda County Community Food Bank has been working for 35 years to create a hunger-free community. Here are a variety of ways to support them during the holiday season and year-round:
- Donate funds
- Start a food drive, which can be small or large. Options include collecting canned or packaged food items or virtually raising funds to purchase food.
- Volunteer at the food bank warehouse or at a local food pantry. Volunteers are needed to sort fresh produce, prepare emergency food boxes, and help agency partners shop and load their cars with food. Volunteers are needed for a special event on Saturday, November 16.
- Help the organization you work for become a sponsor of the food bank.
- Become an advocate by getting involved politically and on social media.
- Leave a legacy to support the food bank through a planned gift in your will.
